Peter Ralph (Shepparton United FNC) & Vic Bovalino (Shepparton Bears) – True Local Legends
Over 160km. Two determined hearts. One powerful mission.
Peter Ralph and Vic Bovalino recently ran all the way from Melbourne to their hometown of Shepparton, more than 100 miles, with one clear purpose: to raise awareness and funds to support people experiencing homelessness right here in the Goulburn Valley.
Their incredible journey, named Under the Same Stars, reminds us that no matter where we sleep at night, we all share the same sky. Sadly, for too many in our community, that sky is their only roof. The reasons people become homeless are often complex, but one thing is certain, support can change everything.
That’s where The Salvation Army steps in, offering hope, shelter, and help when it’s needed most.
Ralph and Bovalino both spoke about how fortunate they were to have a strong support crew around them. “We couldn’t have done this alone,” they said. And the same is true for those facing homelessness, they cannot do it alone either.
Thanks to the support of their families, friends, fellow runners, and the community—including locals Nic Bamford, Lucas White, Grant Hicks, Jake Hauwert, Matt Forys, Ben McPherson, and Troy Tremellen, the event was a heartfelt display of unity, compassion, and commitment to a better future.
And here’s the best part: every dollar raised stays local in the Greater Shepparton area, and assist in continuing to support young people, 16-25yo, that are homeless or at risk of being homeless.
You can help.
Every contribution, big or small, helps provide safe shelter, warm meals, emotional support, and real pathways forward.
Let’s come together and make sure that no one has to face the night alone. Because everyone deserves a place to rest, under the same stars.
