As a player at United, have you come from a sporting background (family)?
My family has always been involved in sport, my dad with basketball, my mum with netball, and my sister and I with multiple sports. It’s always been a very important topic in our family especially as we got older and sport became more serious, the question was which sport to stay with and which one to stop, and I chose netball.
What brought you to United and has it lived up to your expectations?
I knew some people at school that were playing for United and wanted to excel in my netball so I decided to trial when I was 14. It’s definitely lived up to my expectations, I’ve won a couple of premierships with the club and made some great memories and friends along the way so I’m definitely glad I made the change to United!
Also, being involved with coaching future united netballers, what is your philosophy as a coach?
Being my first year as an assistant coach I’m still learning the role, but I think as coaches it’s important to set the tone from the start about your expectations for the playing group. Finding the balance between knowing when to have a laugh and knowing when it’s time to focus. As well as open and honest communication, that is my number one value to create that trusting relationship with players.
